There are several options available for teachers who would like to set up their own web page in order to publish homework, the class syllabus, classroom news, summer assignments, general course information, etc.
-
Most documents (Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, Excel, images, etc) can be published via links on the website. Simply email the document file(s) to the Website Coordinator with instructions about where and how long you would like it / them to appear on the website. If the document file is very large, right-click on the file and "send to Compressed (ZIP) file". The zipped file can then be attached to the email.
-
If you have a webpage you have already set up on one of the many free webpage sites available online, simply email the Website Coordinator with the address of your site. Note: The problem with most "free" websites is that they add advertising to your webpage.
-
If you would like to work on the page yourself and have the ability to post whenever you need to update content (rather than submitting your updated content and documents to the Website Coordinator to post for you), you may want to use Macromedia Contribute. This program is easy to use. The Website Coordinator can supply you with a template for your page(s) or design a template specifically for your classroom. After that, you can directly update the page as needed by updating the content and posting the page to the school website yourself. See the Website Coordinator for more information on this program.
- If you have a student in class who is taking any of the Web Design or Computer Graphics courses, that student could create a webpage for you as one of his or her independent projects for the computer course and perhaps earn some extra credit with you as well. If you would like a student to create a page for you, please contact the Website Coordinator .
